Holy Family Parish Council Meeting
Parish Council Meeting
May 8, 2017
Present: Cathy Gilligan, Ray Kulacz, Ken Arnold, Lou-Anne Fortin, Naomi Worthington,
Joan Crowley, Betty Nunes, Steve Grenier, Mary Ann Quinn
Not Present: Father Craddock, Laurie Down, Ken Holt, Monique Renaud
Cathy called the meeting to order.
Naomi led the group in prayer.
Cathy handed out the minutes from the previous meeting for the group to read.
Ray made a motion to accept the minutes.
Naomi seconded the motion.
Potluck Dinner Fundraiser: Naomi
So far, we have 10 families signed up for our Potluck Dinner. We are going to need to do a lot
more promotion to get more participation. The Potluck Dinner has been scheduled for Sunday,
June 4th which is less than a month away.
Church Sign: Ray
Ray showed some samples to the group and they discussed various color schemes for our new
church sign. A number of people liked gold lettering on a cranberry background. Cranberry
also matches our church website. The light grey also was a favorite.
Feasts of Mary Prayer Service: Joan
There is a short Gospel reading and a prayer for each Feast of Mary. Nelson will be assisting us
with the music. We discussed editing so that this program would not be too lengthy – as last year’s
program was 2 hours long. In the event of rain, the program will be held inside OLC.
Mother’s Day Roses:
We have to make sure that we assign people at all doors for both church buildings. We also need to put
someone in charge of cash. Roses are $3.00 each. Lou-Anne and Naomi volunteered to help out at OLC.
Church Picnic: Cathy
The group looked at our church calendar and chose Sunday, September 10th for our Annual Church
Mission Volunteer Weekend: Cathy
Our Mission Volunteer Weekend has been scheduled for the weekend Masses of September 23rd-24th.
Our Mission Volunteer Committee is made up Glen Holt (Chair), Ray Kulacz, and Joan Crowley. There
was a suggestion that we provide information on volunteering for our missions at our Annual Church
Picnic which would be a couple of weeks in advance of our Mission Volunteer Weekend.
Social Justice: Joan
Bob and Margo Chiparelli, Leda Michaud, and Joan Crowley will attend a conference on Fighting
Poverty with Justice at Rhode Island College. The Breadline will meet Friday, May 12th to make
sandwiches and to deliver them to Providence. A teacher from St. Ray’s came in to thank us for
a prayer shawl he received while on a medical leave.
Food Pantry: Steve
Our April 11th Food Pantry was cancelled due to a storm. Our April 25th Food Pantry served 84 people.
We are well stocked for tomorrow’s Food Pantry.
A motion was made for the meeting to be adjourned.
The motion was seconded.
Cathy adjourned the meeting.
The next meeting is Monday, June 12th
